3 Great To-Do Apps for the New Year

Those that know me in IRL know that I love a good To-Do app. Lists help me stay on track and avoid the pitfalls of time-sucking sites like BuzzFeed and Bloglovin. Below are 3 to-do apps or websites that I’ve found this year that I really enjoy.

teuxdeux to-do list

TeuxDeuxTeuxDeux supposedly has an app, but the reviews alone made me stay far away and use the web-based version, both on my computer and iPhone. I like that when an item isn’t accomplished one day, it is moved the next day. You can also easily move the tasks on your own. TeuxDeux is free (but the app isn’t). One major thing I don’t like about TeuxDeux is that you can’t modify something that you’ve added to your list; you have to cross it off, delete it, then add something new. The main thing I do like is that the list is built into a weekly view, so I can plan out my week and look at it at a glance, all at once.

WorkFlowyWorkflowy is another free web-based to do list. You can quickly add sub-points. However, the list is a master to-do list, and you can’t really separate it easily into days (Unless you made a header with the days of the week, and then each subpoint is a to-do list item.) Basically, it is a master bulleted list that is very easy to use on iPhone and regular browsers.

todist productivtyTodoist: Todoist is a relatively new app that I’m just figuring out how to use. As far as I can tell, it is the combination of WorkFlowy and TeuxDeux. You first create projects, then to-do items with due dates within each project. Then, you can view the items by what is due today or for the next 7 days. This gives me an overview of the week, but it goes vertically, like WorkFlowy, instead of horizontally, like TeuxDeux. The premium version of Todist has some cool features, like productivity stats and the availability to export to-do items to your calendars.

One thing Todist and WorkFlowy both do is send you a daily digest of to-do items for that day, if you’d like. This can help me remember each morning what needs to be done. Amir Salihefendic, Founder of Todoist, has a special offer for new users (as well as existing ones) wanting to get productive in the new year:

From Tuesday, Jan 8th to Thursday, Jan 10th, we’re offering a 50% discount on Todoist Premium, our popular task manager (regular price: $29/year). Your readers can simply go tohttp://todoist.com/promotion to claim their discount.

So there you have it. Todoist premium (which lets you also export emails as tasks and add notes to tasks) for $14/year– $1.16 per month. While I’m still learning my way around Todoist, it seems like my list-making ways will never have a shortage of apps to check out.

What tools do you use to stay productive? Let us know in the comments.
