Marketing is a high-tech proposition in the 21st century. Long gone are the days when just putting an ad in the Yellow Pages, putting up a billboard, and handing out brochures at trade shows were enough to bring customers to your door. Today, you need to reach people in a variety of ways, and most of the really effective methods are online.
If you’re a business owner on the go, like most are today, it may seem like there’s no time for marketing, or that you need to hire someone to do it for you. However, with these 3 apps, you can kick off your online marketing campaign and keep it organized wherever you are, simply by using your mobile device. It’s the 21st century way to do business.
1. Google Docs
With Google Docs, you can share important documents with anyone in your organization, or even with customers. All you need is a Google account. From there, you can add company memos, instructions, and to-do lists for employees regarding marketing tasks. You can put these on Google Docs wherever you are, and your employees can access them in any location on their own mobile devices. You can even put up special documents for customers, such as product and sales information. Google Docs keeps track of what you’ve put there and when, and has editing capabilities when things need updating. It’s also easy to take down old documents as needed.
2. Drop Box
Sometimes, you need to send a lot of information at once, and it’s more than your email will carry. This is where Drop Box comes in handy. Everyone who has a marketing campaign should have Drop Box. You can use it to send data-heavy graphics to customers, vendors, and even to printing shops if you’re having physical items made to promote your business. People with whom you do business can likewise send large files to you through this app. It also keeps a record of what you’ve sent, when you sent it, and when the receiving party opened it (so you will know they got it). FYI, it can take a while for large files to upload on mobile devices, so keep your wireless charger handy. You want to be able to take important business calls while waiting for the upload to complete without running down your battery.
3. HootSuite
HootSuite is a must-have app for social media marketing. It keeps your page constantly filled with new, fresh content. The app allows you to upload content as far into the future as you like, and you can then schedule it to post that content on a schedule. You can set it to post as many times a day or week as you desire. All you have to do is set aside the time to write the content, or hire someone to write it for you. Load it into the app, and your Facebook page will thrive, even if you’re not logging into it all the time.
